Job Summary
We are looking for an attentive and driven Imagery Technician to join our team. Your main duties will be to perform activities that support the Operations Team, which may also involve support to product development, engineering, marketing, and sales teams. A successful Imagery Technician demonstrates the ability to deliver timely, high-quality results across multiple projects. A strong candidate communicates effectively while maintaining strong interpersonal skills and professionalism, demonstrates curiosity and genuine eagerness to learn, and shows insight for improving workflows and product features.
Schedule
This non-exempt (hourly) position will report directly to an Operations Team Manager. A successful candidate must be available to accept a shift schedule that includes weekend and evening work, depending on company needs. Once trained and accepted for shift work, a shift differential would be added to the base salary.
This position requires flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule. Initial training will take place on a standard Monday to Friday work week. Upon completion of training, the role will transition to a Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday schedule, maintaining the same daily hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, with a shift differential.
Please note that working hours and days may be subject to change based on company needs and project requirements. The ability to adapt to schedule modifications is essential for this role.
Job Responsibilities
- Precisely process data to required specifications with the guidance of senior GIS team members
- Learn and apply basic SAR and EO image interpretation techniques following established procedures
- Process and analyze satellite imagery according to customer requirements under guidance of senior team members
- Demonstrate initiative in implementing customer requirements, while working collaboratively across teams, turning feedback into actionable solutions
- Take initiative in researching unfamiliar subject areas to support project needs and leverage findings to enhance team procedures
- Ensure data is accurate, complete and consistent, by performing quality control checks on processed imagery to ensure adherence to specification
- Create and update maps and visualizations for projects, as well as assign and validate data to be included in visualizations
- Learn about the impact of satellite orbits, and different kinds of satellite imagery modes on Ursa Space Analytics
- Participate in process design discussions and workflow improvements
- Learn and implement new technologies as necessary
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Position requires flexibility to work various shifts across a 24-hour period, with shift differentials applied to non-standard hours. Shifts could include but are not limited to: (6am - 2:30pm, 8am - 5:30pm, 2pm -10:30pm or 10pm-6am EST)
- While an 8 am to 5 pm schedule is expected, other hours may be required as business needs arise
- Based on the needs of the company, you may be required to work occasional nights and weekends
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in GIS or related field and/or experience with GIS and remote sensing software including:
- ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS
- ENVI or similar image processing software
- Knowledge of core GIS and remote sensing concepts
- Experience with interacting with computers
- Attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for learning new things
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to juggle multiple projects/requests at once
- Ability to work within a team environment and be self sufficient
- If you are going to work remotely, a reliable Internet connection is required
Preferred Skills
- Experience in programming languages, such as Python, is a plus
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and Slack

Compensation
- $21 to $27 an hour, based on experience
- A shift differential will be added to base pay a shifted Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday schedule
